Mrs. Martha Ellen Koster, 74, passed away suddenly at her home in Fruita
Sunday evening after a second stroke suffered within the period of a few weeks.
She was getting ready to take an automobile ride when she was striken the second
time.
Mrs. Koster was the widow of the late Peter Koster, railroad section employee who
had lived in Fruita for many years prior to his death last April. They were married
in 1897 in St. Louis.
Mrs. Koster was born 19 June,1863 in Nashville, Tennesee and had been in Fruita for
approximately 30 years. She was one of the best known lower valley residents and a
member of The Christian Church.
Three children, Mrs. Anna Hapes & Mrs Ruth Hansen of Fruita & one son, Harold
Koster of California survive. A foster daughter Jane Busby had been living with
her in Fruita. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren. ( a notice the next day
lists her burial in Elmwood Cemetary in Fruita.)
