The High School Youth Ministry Program
The High School Youth Ministry Program operates from a youth-based ministry model. This means youth are involved in all levels of the program from planning and implementation, to evaluation. We also use peer ministers in our youth program in leadership roles. Activities are planned after a need survey with group. Youth Community meets 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and any other time we can find a reason to be together! Plans include a hay ride, lockins, coed volleyball & softball with area parishes, diocesan rallies & activities float trip, service and social as the group plans. Nazareth Farm Mission Trip An outgrowth of our youth community we have an ongoing relationship and involvement with Nazareth Farm in Center Point, West VA. For the past 7 years we have sent a team of seven to eight teens and two to three adults to Nazareth Farm for a week each summer. We have a network of past and future volunteers who provide ongoing support to the mission of the farm through prayer, support and service. For five years now we have put on parish Fish Frys as the primary fund raiser for our mission trip. Confirmation A major piece of our Youth Ministry program is our Confirmation program. We have 190 teens meeting in the homes of 18 of our parish families. Groups meet for 1 1/2 years in these homes along with six meetings at the parish for sponsors and teens, 2 retreats, and 30 hours of service. A new group will form in the fall of 1999.
