The Bishop FamilyLarry's maternal grandfather was Arley Monroe Bishop. I am presently doing research on this branch of the family. Here is what I have so far. All information obtained from my 79 year old mother-in-law:
Arley Monroe Bishop
Anna Nancy Robertson "Mom was born in Kentucky. She was only about 3 years old when her mother died. Her father remarried and Mom's step-mother was very mean to her (beat her) so Mom's Grandpa and Step-Grandma Waggoner went to get her in Kentucky. They lived about 6 miles from Macedonia which is on the west side of McLeansboro, IL and they raised Mom. Mom did not hear from her father nor step-mother again. Mom's Grandpa Waggoner died when she was about 8 years old from "blood poisoning in the leg". Mom's Step-Grandma Waggoner raised her and was like a mother to her. Mom and Dad were married in Hamilton County, Illinois where I was born. They moved in with Mom's Step-Grandma Waggoner when I was about 3 weeks old. When I was still very young, Mom's Step-Grandma Waggoner got what people used to call the "summer complaint" and died. My Dad was killed in a car accident when he was only 46 years old. Mom never remarried." ---Cuma Bishop Page as told to her daughter-in-law, Carla Isaac Page, on 06/27/99 Arley's parents:

William Green Bishop
Olla Elizabeth Dyer "William Green Bishop and Olla Elizabeth Dyer were married on 11/6/1854 in Macoupin County, IL. Olla was an orphan and not of legal age so her guardian gave consent for her to marry. (She had 2 sisters.) Olla is buried in the cemetery lot near William Green Bishop according to a book in the Mt. Vernon library. It is a book of unmarked graves. She has no marker. William Green Bishop, my great-grandfather, was injured in the Civil War in December 1864 near Nashville, TN. He was hospitalized at Dolphin Island near Mobile, AL and another hospital until discharge at war's end in 1865." ---Cuma Bishop Page as told to her daughter-in-law, Carla Isaac Page, on 06/27/99
