Here is a picture of my 1941 John Deere Model A with a 5' hayside mower attached. All I did was paint it and do some maintenance stuff. No real engine work.
Someone thankfully added electric start years ago. They had a battery in an old metal drawer under the seat which I removed. I placed the battery in a carrier and mounted it on the left side of the frame. You can see it in this picture. No, this is not stock but it is effective! There is no charging system either except for the one I hook up when the battery is low on juice.
I use this mower to keep the weeds down and will eventually use it to mow our prairie grass for bailing. Notice the blur on the flywheel? She's purring. |
