KELLY
Kelly joined our family when she was 4 months old and became the inseparable companion and partner-in-mischief of our other Airedale pup, Dougal. They had over eleven wonderful, fun-filled years together. After Dougal died, Kelly took over his role of family protector, and when pup Ruaridh was added to the family, she enjoyed her new role as grandmotherly alpha dog.
Our wee lass Kelly, who combined true terrier feistiness with a sweet and gentle nature, opened up her own special place in our hearts which will remain hers forever, iilled with many happy memories.

On November 5, 1998, Kelly left Scotland to join her beloved Dougal at Rainbow Bridge. She had long struggled with her laryngeal paralysis and severe arthritis. She is now running fast and strong and is breathing the fresh, clean air at The Bridge. Here she and Dougal will wait together until they are reunited with their loving family never to be parted again.
And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
Forever here, within your heart,
And memory I'll stay.

I'll be there watching over you,
Your ever faithful friend,
And in your memories I'll run,
...a young dog once again.

From Friend to Friend by Karen Clouston
            November 6, 1998
Yesterday the life of our beloved Kelly, an Airedale Terrier aged 15 years and 3 months, was brought peacefully to a close. Her breathing had deteriorated again on Wednesday
and this along with severe arthritis made mobility very difficult for her.
Her medications did not seem to be helping, and although she was not yet in great pain or distress, we could see that she had begun to struggle in coping with the essentials of life. For the first time she did not appear relaxed and contented, and willing to soldier on.
Although it was an extremely hard decision, it would have been even more difficult to allow her to struggle against the increasing odds, which included the wintry weather which is just beginning.
RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of Heaven is a wonderful place called
RAINBOW BRIDGE.
When a beloved pet dies, it goes to wait for us at
RAINBOW BRIDGE.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine.
Our dear friends are warm and comfortable,
All the animals who have been ill and were old are
restored to health and vigor,
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole
and strong again
just as we remember them in our dreams gone by.
Our beloved friends are happy and content......
except for one small thing....
They each miss someone special to them...
Someone who has been left behind.
They all run and play together until the day when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent, suddenly he begins to run
From the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted.
When you and your special friend meet you cling together
in joyous reunion, NEV ER to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face,
your hands caress the beloved head
and you look once more into the trusting
eyes of your dear pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent
from your heart.....
Then you cross RAINBOW BRIDGE
and enter Heaven together.
