Lang Defines Role

As excerpted on 8/27/98 from the Ogden Standard Examiner:

David A. Lang, administrator and new principal at St. Joseph High School in Ogden, has defined the difference between an administrator and a principal.

"An administrator is responsible for the financial operation of the school. A principal deals with educational needs, discipline, faculty, curriculum and athletics," he said. Lang will be doing both this year.

Lang said he is inspired by something John D. Rockefeller once said. Rockefeller commented one day on a basic skill he had developed as a businessman. He said his best skill in life was "placing good people around me" who were important to the decision-making process.

Lang said he feels the same way. While in his new position, Lang said he would like to be a leader who works well and listens to others on his staff.
