A Beautiful Day In RMNP

Our longest hike of the five days was to Lake Hiayaha, a little over two miles up to 10,200 feet. Adam made it to Dream Lake a little over one mile. Dia stayed with him there, while Al and Carrie went on to Lake Hiayaha.

Adam drew a picture of Dream Lake and Hallett Peak. Dia read some. They were dubiously entertained by a woman who thought the shores of Dream Lake was a good place to read aloud her copy of the King James Bible. The beauty of Dream Lake speaks volumes about God's work without using words.

We started early at Bear Lake. Note the long morning shadows.

Half way to Dream Lake, Dia framed this shot of Hallett Peak high behind Nymph Lake.

This is Dream Lake. Properly named isn't it?

The trail above Dream Lake yielded this easterly view over Bear Lake.

Carrie and Al and Long's Peak. What a trio!

Lake Hiayaha is frozen most of the year. During the Summer it is easy to see through the clear, COLD water to the rocky bottom.

This ancient limber pine has clung to the shore of Lake Hiayaha for many years, and in that time developed quite a lot of "character". (Isn't that what we say about people with wrinkles like these?)

The Parrs had fun every day in RMNP.
