Evander's Computer Room

The Evander Family Web Development Platform

This tribute to our sacred friend, the computer, is brought to you so that you may know our computer almost as well as myself. Well, at least you will know what I run on and what programs I used to make this wonderful web site all possible.

P.S: Special thanks goes to no one in particular.

The following programs are what I used to create our web site, and in no way reflect the over 4.8 gigabytes of shit we keep on our hard drives!

First I would start with taking lots of pictures with my new APS Kodak camera with 60mm Zoom. I love these new pictures, they are so much larger than standard 35mm prints. I always get lots of compliments when people see the pictures it takes. I then use Kodak film developing (doesn't this all sound like one really bad advertisement?) and scan the pictures in on the viewstation using Scantools. Unfortunately, you can only save pictures one way in Scantools, and that is to BMP. So I create a 200 to 250k image, BMP format, and port the image to Adobe Photoshop. Here, I crop the picture, adjust detail and color levels, and then save it. Any editing I do to the actual photo is done in Adobe as well. (like arrows, color correction, and modifications).

Now I port the picture to L-View PRO, and fiddle with the gamma correction settings. I save the file as a JPG using standard settings. I also crop the picture if need be.

That's it! Whew....

I create all my own HTML because it is simpler that way. I can keep track of what's going on a lot better, and besides, you still have to write the content no matter which way you choose to produce a page. I use Netscape to keep track of the images directory, and to obtain width and height information. All pages on this site are specified to their fullest extent, to help load faster! And that is a bonus for you.

Don't underestimate the power of Photoshop. You can also make a really neat collage with it! Just check out the image map on our home page! Well, enough for now, I have to go mow the lawn. C-U-L8R.
