My Jet Ski is two years old this year. She's beginning to show a little wear. A little slower off the line than last year, and I had noticed less top speed. The obvious answer? The prop must be bad! You can be as careful as you want, but if you are running an aftermarket intake grate, you are going to suck shit into your pump. And that translates into prop wear. I surmised it was time for a replacement.
So with one quick call to Skat Trak, I ordered a Polaris Swirl Prop. I asked for a mild (vs. stock) pitch. This prop is 13/18. I am not quite sure, but I believe that this means that the angle of entry, or front of the prop, is 13 degrees from verticle, and the rear or exit of the prop has 18 degrees of angle from verticle. This allows the prop to dig well, and accelerate the water out. For stock, they recommend as low as a 12/17, so this prop should provide a broader range of power. Price: $246 with prop tool.
