Wing Commander IV is the most expensive video game made to date. It's production costs exceeded $12 million dollars, and it shows.
This game is considered by many to be the only true interactive movie series ever produced. What is an interactive movie? Well, basically footage is shot on real sets, then digitized to be stored on the computer. These make up the cut scenes you see between missions. You, as the player, get to choose what course of action the game will follow. Don't like the way a character is acting? Tell him off! Want to change the course of the story? Its all possible within the game. And best of all, its all shot in beautiful SVGA graphics, with dolby surround sound.
The mission scenarios are not extremely difficult to complete, and best of all, you can toggle invulneribility on and off, so that you can come back from each and every mission alive. I am in the process of completing the game, this time being vulnerable...
At right is the new HUD screen the debuted with this game. (Previous games actually had hard consoles, which obscurred vision.) I have flown both types, and the main advantage with the hard points is being able to automatically switch between several different enemies, etc. However, with the HUD, you can keep a much better eye on what exactly is happening around you.
Well, I can't offer you a lot in the way of this game, but I can offer you the best link to follow for additional information: The Terran Confederation.
