Almond Cookies

3 tablespoons butter or margarine softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup sliced almonds

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla and almond extract, mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and cinnamon, gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Shape into two 1 inch rolls. Wrap each rool in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Unwrap and cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle with sliced almonds and bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 2 to 3 minutes before removing to wire racks.
