Canning Jar Candle Holder
This is one of my favorite gift ideas. It is simple to put together. You will need an oyster votive glass candle holder (you can find them at most craft stores, I have seen them at Jo-Ann's and Pier One Imports), a canning jar, a candle, some jute (thin rope that you can also find at craft stores) and something to fill your jar with.
In the candle pictured I used rocks from my rock collection. This is a nice way to display my collection that had been stored away for years. Now I can enjoy them.
First I fill the jar with potpurri, candies, buttons, marbles or anything else you can think of! Then, place the candle in the candle holder and put it inside the jar. It should fit nicely inside the mouth of the jar. The oyster votive works best because it fits down in the jar and the top keeps it from falling in. Next, cut a few long pieces of jute and holding them together, tie them around the neck of the jar. My favorite candles to use are the Yankee scented candles. You can visit their website by clicking on the link below. You can order candles online there. They come in a lot of pretty colors and smell wonderful!
I have used these candles for housewarming gifts, birthday presents and Christmas gifts. I gave them to my sons teachers last year for Christmas and they loved them!
Some other ideas you could try is using red and green m&m's to fill the jar and tying red and green ribbons around it and using a red or green candle. There really is no end to the possibilities! Just use your imagination!
