I collected the center pineapple blocks through a monthly
foundation pieced 6" block swap in 1999 with my good on-line friends
Jo McKnight (Detroit Lakes, Minnesota), Sue Rapalus (Virginia Beach),
Sharon Edmonds (British Columbia, Canada), and Grace Smith (British Columbia, Canada).
Our swap guidelines were bright scraps, the wilder the better, in the
"spokes" part of the pineapple, and white or white-on-white
in the background sections. We used a pattern from Mary Ann
Beattie's PC Piecer web page. I got the idea for the outside
pineapple blocks with mostly blues from a picture I saw
in a quilt magazine a few years ago.
The square-in-square border is also foundation pieced.
I made this quilt for one of the most colorful people I know,
my daughter Sarah. She's still in a crib, but
this quilt will be waiting for her when she moves
into her big-girl-bed in another year or so.
This quilt is approx 73"x83".
I won a ribbon on this quilt in May 2000, an honorable mention, my first ribbon ever!
What a thrill! Click here to see me and my quilt.
