My father, Clayton Wrightsman, was born in Lima Ohio in 1917, son of Frank Wrightsman. His parents died and left him an orphan as a baby. He spent his whole life looking for relatives. I am very sorry he died before the internet came along and your Web Site. He would have loved it.

Hello, to all Wrightsman's My Grandfather Charles Wrightsman married a woman named Florance her maiden name I'm not sure about at this time.Her&Charles had Paul{my father}& Mary. Mary Married a man named John Lauderbaugh and they moved to the East coast.M father married Julie Graves&had two children myself& Chris.I have four children Adam,Josiah,Jordan,Victoria.As a side note I have a book that talks about the life of Elwood Haynes&It mentions a Warren Wrightsman helping Haynes build his car& help him on is first test drive!!!

This is a quick correction with some additional information to my comment for the guestbook of a few days ago. Gilly Ann(nee Wrightsman) had five (not eight) children with Charles Griffin: Carl, Fred, Claude, Louella, and Lettitia. Carl married Mary Kis el (YOB 1887) of Cincinatti (My parents)in 1914, Fred married Laura Adams (Some rumor existed that her linage included the Presidents of that name but certainly not verified by anyone of whom I am aware), Claude never married, Louella and Lettitia married Kellenberger and Maxwell. I don't know who married who and where exactly they lived. Carl and Fred moved to Los Angeles area around 1915. I don't know about the others. Just before Carl died, he told me he had been married briefly to Olive Weaver (perh ps he meant Wheeler)who died in Western, Nebraska about 1913. A baby boy, whether of this union or of Olive and some other man, may also have survived.

I cannot find him any where in the 1850 census.The 1860 of Bedford Co says he was orn in PA. My grandparents relocated to Garrett CO MD abt 1897 where they raised their family and died. I was very interested to find your site and that Wrightsman is related to Ritzman (my maiden name). I believe Johannes Ritzman was my ancestor, too. I have information that he was killed by Indians at a fort in Pennsylvania. I was not aware of the ship on which he arrived.

I am glad to see the Wrightsman website. My great grandfather was an Abraham Wrightsman b.abt 1825 in Indiana, m. 10 March 1848 in Grant County, Indiana to Judah Inda Davis b. 12 Nov 1825 in Ohio, d. 30 May 1910. Judah's parents were Edward Davis and Fa nie Benson. I have her obituary and found her burial site, but cannot find when he died or where he is buried. They were among the first settlers in Jackson Township, Howard County, Indiana and he is mentioned in some of the books on the history of Howa d County. I haven't heard of anyone looking for this line yet. They had 6 children. My grandfather was U S Grant Wrightsman , b.30 Mar 1864, D. 13 July 1940. m. Carrie McKee, 1st and then Eva Myrtle Sharp. I would appreciate any information on any of bove. To make this more interesting, I have a grandson who is a student at UT in Austin, TX.

Hi: I found your site thru your surname listing on Danielle's Genealogy Homepage. I have been tracing my husbands "Wahl/Wall" Family tree and there is a Lower/Lohr in it so when I saw your listing, of course, I wanted to see who you had! Our Adam Wall II married Elizabeth (Betsy) Lower/Lohr, daughter of John (Sr.) and Christina Wrightsman, June 28, 1813 in Montgomery County. After their marriage they first lived on Tom's Creek in Va. They sold that place in 1829 and bought the old Price Farm from des ndants of Michael Price. Wall descendants still live on that Farm in Va. today. Adam and Betsy are buried near that farm. I had gotten my first information on Betsy from Roxanne Rhea. Thanks for a great site, it was fun reading about her family! Stop b our site and read about Adam and Betsy.

Are we all related? Who was the first Wrightsman? ANSWER: yes, we are all pretty much related. The first documented "Wrightsman" to whom we believe there is a connection is the arrival of Johannes Reitzmann on the Snow Molly in Sep 1737. He may be the fa her (or an uncle) of our John Wrightsman Senior of Botetourt County, VA.

I grew up in Virden, IL, and am the grandson of George Wrightsman, who was the son of John, who, in turn, was the son of Samuel Jr. Is it true that our ancestors beat children and kicked dogs? ANSWER: There is truth to the dog-kicking episode. Samuel Wri htsman Jr was apparently a grumpy little man that didn't care for dogs. During a trip back to VA to visit his wife's family (Wertz), he must have kicked their dog. Mention is made of this incident in a Wertz family letter. As for the child-beating remark, this relates to the incident described on the page about John Wrightsman Senior.

Solomon's parents were Spencer Bolton and Hariett Bolton of SC. Have you run into them in your Bolton line. ANSWER: no, the only Bolton/Wrightsman connection we have is ith Daniel Wrightsman and his wife, Catherine Bolton. They ended up in Tennessee.

Dennis Wrightsman, who married Margaret Rushton and settled in Liberty Twp Hendricks Co IN was my gg-grandfather. He was born in NC around 1849, parents unknown, although they were both born in NC, according to IN census of 1900. Any clues, guys? Also, in the 1860 IN census index I found Aelia Wrightman in Randolph Co and Richard Wrightsman in Henry Co, though I haven't looked them up yet. Nice to know I got company with Wrightsman research on this website! ANSWER: we are still trying to tie in Dennis Wrig tsman with our groups.
