Our Keynote Speaker, David Rencher, A. G., FUGA, is employed by the Family History Department in Salt Lake City where he is the Family History Outreach Coordinator for North America, Europe, and the Pacific. A professional genealogist since 1977, he was accredited in Ireland research in 1981.
David graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a BA in Family and Local History. He served as a reference consultant for the British Isles in the Family History Library from 1980 - 1985 and was supervisor of the Family History Center Operations Unit from 1985 - 1986. He was the manager for developing authority systems and resource files for Family Search from 1986 - 1994.
As a professional genealogist, David lived in the British Isles for an extended period in 1978 and conducted contract work for other professional genealogists. He has traveled extensively throughout England, Wales, and Ireland and regularly goes there for genealogical research. He has conducted genealogical research tours to Ireland for In Search of Ancestors (ISOA) during 1992 - 1993. In 1994 and 1997, he conducted the research tour for the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) to England and Ireland.
Mr. Rencher is courrently President of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and has previously served on the board of directors and as treasurer. He was the National Conference Chairman for the 1995 and 1996 FGS conferences in Seattle, Washington, and Rochester, New York. He is immediate past president of the Utah Genealogical Associaiton (UGA) 1993 - 1995 and a Fellow of that Organization.
