Book Review
The ANSI A300 standard is a must for anyone who prunes or fertilizes trees, installs support systems, and / or lightning protection systems in trees. A300 presents the standard by which tree work performance is measured. The A300 standard comes as four separate parts: Part 1-2001 - pruning; Part 2-2004 - fertilization; Part 3-2000 - support systems; and Part 4-2002 - lightning protection systems.
The key to the standard is it provides consistent terminology, and definitions by which arborists and clients can communicate about a job. It allows, for example, a community to specify that trees identified by the city will be “cleaned” of limbs down to one inch in diameter. According to section 5.6.1, this removes all dead, diseased, and broken limbs down to the specified size. Allowing bidders to all know exactly what is desired and bid appropriately.

APPRECIATION SONG
How nice of God to make this tree
With branch akimbo just for me,
And in the summer when it's hot
To cast in shade this very spot,
Placing the trees so I can fly
Around and through them to the sky,
And offering all the fruits that shine
Scarlet and blue on bough and vine.
All this my Lord has done for me
Alone of all the beings that be.
