George L. Sisson, 78, died Monday in a nursing home at Shawsville.Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Audrey M. Sisson, two sons, Hugh Sisson,Shawsville; and Vance Sisson, Laredo, Tx., four brothers, James A., Wilbur C., Edward J., all of Shawsville, Wade K. Sisson, Knoxville, TN. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) 10-10-1963 at Piedmont Methodist Church with burial in Piedmont Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home was incharge of arrangements.

Charles L. Sisson died at his home in Wheatland Tuesday Tuesday afternoon March 23. The deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. J. Ray Williamson and Ralph W. Sisson of Roanoke; Mrs. J. E. Osborne of Stanton and Minor D. Sisson and Mrs. D. T. West of Wheatland; three brothers; George W., Stanley D., and Thomas S. Sisson of Otey, and a sister Mrs. John Boone of Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at Wheatland Lutheran Church this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in the church cemetery.[March 25 1937 The Fincastle Herald]

SISSON, CLEATIS R., SR.

Cleatis Rignal Sisson, Sr., age 71, of Salem, died Tuesday at the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was a former owner and operator of the Roanoke Cab Company and operated one of the first rent-a-car franchises in the Roanoke Valley. He was retired from Quickette Food Store in 1978. He was an army veteran of World War II, life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 3, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1264 as well as AMVETS Post No. 40. He was a past chaplain of AMVETS and DAV. Mr. Sisson spent many volunteer hours at the VA Medical Center in Salem and in a special ceremony conducted in Christiansburg in 1989, Mr. Sisson was presented with his World War II Service Medals forty three years after the fact. He attended church services at the chapel at the VA Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Eugenia (Jeany) H. Sisson, Salem; son, Cleatis (Reggie) Sisson, Jr., Roanoke; two daughters, Wanda Lou Henry, Roanoke; Janie Lynn Feury, Salem; three sisters, Gladys Brown of Salem; Allie McCray of Roanoke; Nina Bowers of Floyd; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 27, 1990, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain George B. Hamilton. Burial will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Full military rites will be provided by the Fourth Highland Brigade of the Virginia State Defense Force. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
