After marrying unwisely at the age of 17, and then that unhappy marriage ending 4 yrs. later, my faith in "romance" of any kind was badly shaken! My little girl and I moved in with my mom and dad after my separation/divorce,(as you moms and dads out there know adult children are apt to do!Ü) and my computer was a haven for me, maybe even an escape, of sorts, from "real life"...I spent quite a bit of time, when not at work, in the Internet Gaming Zone on the internet, usually in checkers. Got to know a lot of very nice people there, as well as met some who were not so nice, but I guess it's that way everywhere, not just on the internet!!
And then, one day, I saw the name "Rebel35", and thought, "I think I'll play a game of checkers with that one!" My dad is a civil war re-enactor, confederate side,(a rebel) so I, of course, noticed that name...so got into a game of checkers with him. We chatted away as we played..he seemed a friendly fellow, a nice guy, and in other games later we asked questions of each other, and learned more details of each of our lives.
We found that each of us had suffered an unhappy first marriage, and that we each had a child from our first marriages...he had a boy, three yrs. older than my little girl. This was getting more and more interesting, and "romance" was slowly rearing it's head again in my life, and his!! One drawback in this budding romance was that he lived in Alabama and I in Michigan! We exchanged pictures, liked what we saw, then exchanged phone numbers, kept the phone lines hot between Alabama and Michigan, and more and more, feelings of "like" were blossoming into "love"!
Yes, I know...I hear you now saying, "You can not possibly fall in love with someone you have never met!" And my family was saying, "Be careful, you don't really know this man..he could be trouble with a capital T!" And his family was saying, "Be careful, you don't really know this woman...." etc, etc!!
Romance blossomed, became love, and Bob Corson quit his job in Alabama, packed everything he owned in a rented U-haul, and headed north to Michigan..arriving on May 4, 1997. When he left early in the morning, the temperature was 85 degrees, and 13hrs. later here in Michigan, it was 45 degrees..so my first sight of my love, was standing beside his pickup truck, wearing sweats, and shivering!! (of course, there is a possibility that he was just a bit nervous, too??)
Bob found a job, and we were married on June 28, 1997, and I became Leslie Corson...and on March 26, 1998, I gave birth to a darling baby girl we named Kaitlyn May Corson! A fitting result of this "Internet Romance"!
Would love to hear from all; and maybe someone else has a love story similar to mine! Please sign my guestbook!! Thanks
