The vigorous life of the resident physician took a heavy tool of his health and the doctor resigned because of ill health in August of 1906. The family moved to El Reno where a house was built on a downtown street . Dr. Westfall probably hoped to maintain his practice because there was space for an office. Burial: Aft. 02 Feb. 1907 El Reno, Canadian Co., Oklahoma Occupation: Medical Doctor. He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Cheyenne-Arapahoe indian reservation near El Reno, Oklahoma. Note: Event: Anecdote Bet. 1888 and 1906 in Cheyenne-Arapaho Indian Agency, El Reno, Canadian Co., Oklahoma - Note: Many writers and artists visited the Indian School as well as the Army Post, and in writing of their visits, they spoke of the young doctor and his wife, and of her discomfiture at living on the Indian Reservation. As is usually the case near an Army Post, there was a very active social life, with dances, cards, and other social activities. The doctor was an avid hunter and his skill provided bountiful food for the table. Albertine was a special cook and plump quail and other denizens of the prairie were often served. Each fall several barrels of apples arrived from the Westfall farm in New York State. Albertine was a beautiful seamstress and her needlework made the home attractive. There were many books and a piano in the home, though lacking in electricity, refrigeration, and in-door plumbing. Westfall was born in Darlington, Okla., on Oct. 15, 1903. He was a 23-year resident of South Lake Tahoe. He retired as an executive from Pacific Telephone, where he had also been a founder, director and trustee of the company's credit union. He was a distinguished alumnus of Park College in Missouri, a volunteer for the local Meals on Wheels program and a budget committee member of Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church. He was described as an avid fisherman and backpacker. Survivors include his wife, Anne Westfall, of Gardnerville; two daughters, Jane Westfall of Manhatten, Kan., and Mary Westfall Rosen of Bethesda, Md.; and sister Mary Westfall Turner, of Bethesda. The memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church. Inurment will be at Happy Homestead Cemetery under the direction of McFarlane Mortuary.
