Winners, Birthday Wishes, and Achen's Message The CallWhen He Calls Me, I Will Answer Excerpts from the theme exposition session by Rev. Dr. Ipe Joseph The senior students' conference for the year 98 commenced on 8th. Oct. 1998
at the United Indian School, Abbassia. Excerpt from the theme exposition
session: The theme was analysed based on the following understanding. 1. Our understanding of life as an act of freedom in obedience to the call of God. Life is a stimulus response system. God's call is the stimulus and our answer is the responses. When God calls us, we can either say Yes or No, but we must always say Yes
Steps to Effective Bible Study
A current affairs presentation by Mr. Vineeth Abraham was another highlight of the introductory session. Panel Discussion: The world Today and Your Tomorrow
The highlight of the day was an effective presentation form a set of panellist derived from a cross section of the society. Panel consist of a student representative, an young adult, a doctor, a mother, a high school principal, a business administrator representing political / business field, and a religious reader. The anchorperson for the panel discussion was Mr. Rajan Mathew. The gist of the panel discussion: Selection of Career: Children should pursue their profession of interest rather than the interest of the society or their parents. It is the aptitude and the interest that should be the main criteria for career selection. Ragging: Students should be mentally prepared for the ragging they should face in the initial year in their professional study. The ideal way is to be to give the seniors what they want upto a point and do not be arrogant, cheeky or act smart and try to get tuned to it Loneliness: Make a good friend or two to avoid loneliness Corruption: A true valued person is often a misfit in today's business/political arena. The situation has reached a point that a honest man can not make profit honestly. However a movement of change in the society has begun. Right values with right attitudes should be imparted to the younger generation. World have sufficient resource to everybody's needs but not for everybody's greed. The students should be motivated to share and give. They should have the ability to empathies with fellow human beings. Finally we should understand that dividing things as secular and scared is meaningless and everybody can work for God in their own field. The panel was successful in achieving their objectives of presenting their views on a predefined set of topics to the conference participants. The discussions were in-depth, concise and to the point organized and presented well within the limited facilities available. Similar discussions in the future should also include provision for interaction between the audience and the panelist. Winners!
