The Gift of Friendship
Friendship is a pricless gift, That cannot be bought or sold. But it's value is far greater Than a mountain made of gold. For gold is cold and lifeless, It can neither see nor hear. And in a time of trouble, It is powerless to cheer. It has no ears to listen, No heart to understand. It cannot bring you comfort, Or reach out a helping hand. So when you ask God for a gift, Be thankful if he sends... Not diamonds, pearls or riches, But the love of real true friends.
Cherished Friends
God must have known there would be times We'd need a word of cheer, Someone to praise a triumph, Or brush away a tear. He must have known we'd need to share The joy of "little things", In order to appreciate The happiness life brings. I think he knew our troubled hearts Would sometimes throb with pain, At trials or misfortunes Or some goal we can't attain. He knew we'd need the comfort Of an understanding heart, To give us strength and courage To make a fresh, new start. He knew we'd need companionship Unselfish...lasting...true, So God answered the heart's greatest need With cherished friends...like you!
