There are at least two lines of Grisham families that immigrated to America. One is John Grisham of Ireland and the other John Grisham who immigrated from England in 1600's and settled in Arundel County, Maryland. At some point Grisham changed to Gresham in some lines. Unfortunate, we do not have documentation to link us to either of these lines.
John Davis Grisham was born November 16, 1790 in VA, and died November 29, 1872 in Pope County, Illinois. He married Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie"Gregory on May 17, 1816 in Smith County, Tennessee. She was born in 1790 and died in 1878, daughter of William Gregory.
