Passmore Family History
The PASSMORE name is English in origin and comes from Wiltshire (later known as Berkshire) England. The first documentation of our line is in Winchester, Frederick Co., Virginia. They reloacted to Ohio probably for cheap land probably around 1800. The original Ohio Passmore homestead is not far from Zanesville and Norwich, near the Adamsville vicinity in Muskingum County, Ohio. It is unknown how many other Passmores came to Ohio. The following information is from the Passmore Family Bible and gives the births of that particular generation so this Bible must have been brought with the family who settled at Norwich:
The book was printed in 1789 in Edinford and purchased in Winchester, Virginia, by Joseph Passmore. The price of it was $4.00. Elizabeth Passmore, the mother of Joseph and George, died August 5, 1873. There are 10 children of this generation, 3 girls and 7 boys.
