More about Mary Ellen Winn Hughes:
I always considered my Grandmother Hughes as being very old as a child, which of course was a mistake. She had beautiful, very curly hair and I loved to comb it and pretend she was my little girl. She was a small frail little woman. Grandmother Hughes was a widow and lived with her children when I knew her. She read her Bible and prayed and wore little breakfast shawls. Her sons Harry and William lived in or around Colorado Springs but her son George and daughter Elizabeth, who was 7 years older than my mother Martha, lived in Zanesville, Ohio.
