Sleepytown
The falling raindrops coming down
a quiet little sleepy town
a place that seems at least to say
there's no one home, please go away

Please let us go on with our ways
our memories of olden days
Our many children, husbands, wives
just need to go on with our lives

We have no need of modern things
here in this town of old porch swings
we take a stroll or read a book
perhaps you need to take a look

at everything that you must get
to make you happier, and yet
the more you get the more you need
that makes you happier, indeed!

While we, ourselves, are quite content
to leave our hard-earned cash unspent
and concentrate on better things
like friends and folks and gatherings

And you who has much more than we
you absolutely cannot see
you say you have it all, but yet
you're the one who's getting wet.
