Francis McLOUGHLIN Francis was born in Drumlish, Co. Longford, Ireland on 12th January 1859. He was the son of Thomas McLOUGHLIN, a Farmer, and Mary Ann DAVIS. Francis died on 3rd October 1923 at Haigslea, Queensland. He was buried with his daughter Lelia on 5th October 1923 at Glamorganvale Cemetery, Queensland. Francis won a scholarship to study at Dublin. He studied at St Patrick's Training School, Dublin for 8 months in 1879-1880. The school still exists and is still training teachers today. It is known as St Patricks College at Drumcondra, Dublin 9. From May 1880 he taught at Boundary St, Brisbane (later called St James Christian Brothers School) and in January 1882 moved to St Mary's School at Ipswich. Francis married Mary Gertrude LOWRY in St Stephens Cathedral, Brisbane on 2nd July 1884. Witnesses to the marriage were Michael O'SHEA and Mary's sister Annie LOWRY On 7th February 1887 he opened the Provisional School at Isis Scrub South. On 9th Jun 1890 he became Head Teacher of Homebush State School and transferred to Kirchheim (Haigslea) State School on 1st January1887 where he was Head Teacher until 1922.

Mary was born in South Brisbane on 16th December 1864 . She was the daughter of Michael LOWRY, a Baker, and Jane Culligan. Mary died 11th December 1949 at Marburg, Queensland. She was buried with her husband Francis and daughter Lelia at Glamorganvale Cemetery, Queensland.

Francis and Mary had the following children:
1 Gertrude Mary McLOUGHLIN (Gerty) born 28th March 1885, Queensland.
2 Francis Patrick McLOUGHLIN born 18th March 1890 at Maryborough, Queensland. He died 16th October 1891 at Homebush near Mackay, Queensland.
3 Unnamed son, possibly stillborn, buried 21st February 1893 at Mackay, Queensland.
4 Cecilia Frances McLOUGHLIN (Celia) born 3rd April 1895 at Mackay, Queensland.
5 Lelia Jane McLOUGHLIN (Bub) born 3rd October 189, Queensland
