A Resource for Adopting
Children
The Good Family,
July 2001
We rejoice whenever we hear of another child who is adopted and finds a forever family! This website can help you navigate adoption. It really is not hard, you just follow the steps and soon you have crossed that bridge that takes you from wanting a child, to having one!
How to adopt a child:
Send in your INS paperwork, if doing an international adoption
Sign with an agency or attorney
Pay your fees (these are spread out over several months, usually)
Compile and submit your dossier birth parent letter and video
Wait and prepare for your child
Travel or meet your escorted child!
Once you have your child it seems like you didn't go through enough. If you do this once, you might just want to do it again! Most of the costs come at the end, so you can save while you are in the adoption process. Travel expenses can be put on credit cards, and many people get various types of loans to help with the costs associated with the process.
"An invisible red
thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place,
or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never
break."
Ancient Chinese Belief
"Broken" by 4 Him, a wonderful song that fits with adoption!
