Jeanie took a trip to Seattle/Puget Sound with Jan. She stayed with friends and caught some crabs.
Fred, Jane and Jeff visited Jeanie during "graduation" weekend. Jeanie had finished her course work, but not her thesis, so she didn't go through the ceromony. While we were there Beth Quade, Jeanie's friend from NJ, was also visiting. We went downtown to the market.
One day we visited the National Bison Range with Beth Quade. We parked our car and walked up to a spot on the top of the mountain for lunch. We were surprised to see 200 horse riders. Apparently this was the one day of the year they are allowed to ride into the range (but not the range containing the buffalo). The buffalo are fenced in one of 8 different ranges which they are moved in and out of to prevent over-grazing. The riders had a catered lunch including barbequed beef sandwiches and ice cream. No one offered us any of it.
We took a day trip to the home of Ron and Jean Stoker in Hamilton, MT. Ron and Jean are former members of our church and Jean Stoker sang with us in the choir. Ron drove us on a tour of the area and then we all enjoyed a dinner that Jean prepared.
Fred and Jane wanted to go to a good steak house in Missoula, but were told there weren't any! On our last night in Missoula, the family went to Guy's Steak House which is about 8 miles outside of Missoula. The restaurant was made of logs. By the way one of the main industries in Montana is log cabin building. Guy's had all kinds of stuffed animals inside, including a diarama you can see overhead. The steaks were cooked on a grill and we could see ours being cooked. They did have good steaks.
