Hello!

This site is devoted to Gottlob family research. The name is very uncommon. It is estimated that there is only about 1000 individuals, and 300 families with the surname Gottlob in the entire world with most in Germany and the United States.

My greatgrandfather, Bernard A. Gottlob was born in Essen, Westphalia, Germany on 7 February 1837. Bernard came to America on the Ship Georg on Dec 15, 1853. The ship arrived in New Orleans. He ultimately moved to Alton, Madison County Illinois. He married Mary Louisa Altevogt on September 1870.

The couple had five children who grew to adulthood. They were Bernard W. (Ben), Fredericka Maria (Rikki), Louisa (Lou), Joseph Henry (Joe), and William Louis (Willie). Rikki and Joseph moved to Illmo, Scott County Missouri, while Ben, Willy, and Lou stayed in the Alton area. Bernard died in 1919 in Alton.

This page will hopefully prove to be a place where Gottlob descendants can find, share, and exchange information on Gottlobs. I hope to eventually establish links between as many Gottlobs as possible in the United States and around the World. If you have information on the Gottlob family and would like to share and exchange information please contact me. I'm new to html and web pages so it may take awhile to get this page together. Once I learn what I am doing watch out!!

My link to Gottlob is as follows: Bernard A. Gottlob married Mary Louisa Altevogt. Their son, Joseph Henry Gottlob (born 1880) married Jessie I. Mayfield. Their daughter, Geraldine Gottlob married Lloyd Franklin Dunn. I am their son.

Check these databases for Gottlob families! Bernard and John Adam below were brothers. The father of these two was Joseph Gottlob. Their mother was Theresia Moos. Joseph's brothers were, in my current opinion, Frederick and Anton. Please help me develop these databases further.
