The Life of April

(Von Otto's April, to be exact)

I am Von Otto's April, but you can just call me April. I was born April 22, 1994, so I'm 5 years old now.
My "birthparents" are Soritas Anders for Rokadanes (brindle) and Stein Haus Meloquence (fawn). They are both beautiful Great Danes!
On July 4, 1994, I went home with my new mom & dad. Dad's the one who picked me out, but he's also the one who wasn't sure he wanted such a big dog, so I had to win him over with my charm! His parents told him I would destroy our house, but I proved them wrong and now they love me lots, too! My mom says I'm the greatest dog in the world ... to her, at least!

Here I am with my human brother, Andrew. He was born June 6, 1997, so I am three years older than him. When he was little like this, he liked to climb over me, from one side to the other. I just put up with it because he was just a baby -- and cute, too, even though he doesn't look much like me.

Here Andrew is at 2 years old, see what I have to put up with? I guess I don't look too annoyed since I'm yawning.

Sometimes I even pretend to be dead and ignore him, but it doesn't do much good. Notice how he found the only soft spot on my body to use as a pillow?

Here we are on Andrew's bed taking a nap. I have my own twin size mattress on the floor, but you just can't beat taking a nap on Andrew's bed. This is when Andrew is the most fun, and snuggly.

It's important to stand guard at the door. This way I can scare off anybody who dares to go past my house. Or I can let the next door neighbor know that I'm ready for one of those biscuits that she sometimes has in her pocket...

Here I am with Andrew, again. He's about 17 months old in this picture. My mom loves this picture - she says I look great! Well, of course I do! It was hard to get Andrew to sit still for this because he loves the American flag. When Andrew, mom and I go for walks, he always points at every flag he sees in the neighborhood. (Gives me a chance to sniff some mailboxes...)

I can't believe mom put this one up. I look better in the flag picture but hey, it's December so I'll try to have some Christmas spirit even though it's hard to look dignified with those ornaments around my neck.
