On this tape/CD, we are introducing a new sound to the Tongan music. It's a contemporary and jazzy sound of both vocal arrangements and instrumentations. "TONGA RECALLS . . ." will bring to your homes a sophisticated touch of soothing and melodic four-part harmony vocal arrangements. These songs are all remakes of old but familiar Tongan favorites -- spiced up for all generations to enjoy. The musicians were just the three of us (myself, Tia, and my brother-in-law, Dave). All the keyboards, brass, etc sound that you hear all came from my guitar synthesizer (Roland GR-1). Check out the trumpet solo on Hone Matala Koula or the steel drums on Fisi 'O e Hone.
Please do not attempt to do the "tau'olunga" to these songs! They are arranged particularly for easy listening, candlelit dinner music, public restaurants' background music, and even a nice classy wedding reception.

This was a quick project that took us only a week to finish. With only an 8-Track (DA-88) to work with, we tried to do wonders with the vocals & instrumentation. Hope you enjoy it!
