Ole Reliable

73 Superbeetle
This is the best car I've ever seen for the price. Well, there's usually some minor problem. I just fixed a hole in the gas tank and replaced all the fuel lines. It may be needing a new alternator soon. There are other minor things to fix, but the engine is GREAT. It never lets me down. It starts up so easy and sounds so wonderful. The suspension is GREAT. The brakes are GREAT. It's so easy to drive in city traffic. I can park almost anywhere. I can usually squeeze through blocked traffic and make right turns :)

Rust? Where?

Kids love it!

Shall I work on the yard? Or the car?

Going to the Bodyshop Soon

It's been repainted before, probably about 10 years ago. It had 3 layers of upholstry when I brought it home. This daily driver has obviously served its owners well for nearly 30 years. It's got a few rust spots in the rear pillars (typical for these models in this part of the country). I'm getting them welded up soon and then I'll get it painted the original Sumatra Green. It's going to look nice. My priorities were originally safety & reliability first (brakes, wheels, engine overhaul), then comfort (the interior), and looks (the body) last. I've met the reliability & safety goal, but I'm swapping the looks and comfort goals because the rust holes are growing and need to be stopped and fixed as soon as possible.
