Snow 2000

Looking up our street
Raleigh got 20 inches of snow one day in January 2000--that was an all-time record. We were stranded (in a fun way) at the bottom of our culdesac for almost a week. The kids got out the old toboggans and had a ball going down the street.

Once I got the bug out on the street, it ran really great in the snow. It's a tough old car. Fortunately I had just gotten new tires and I had chains in case I needed them. When all the other cars were lined up in the only clear lane, I coud easily drive the bug through the snowy lane and pass everyone up, and I never used the chains. Passing everyone else is NOT something I'm used to doing!

It took Tommy some time to figure out what was going on!

Dad and Laura on a toboggan

Can you believe I took that toboggan down the Shelley lake dam? For Laura and Teddy, once was enough, but it took me 4 trips down to realize I was too old for that and aging quickly if I kept doing it! But it was FUN, and it was fast, too. I went airborne everytime!
