I will try to add to this information as time allows; but, that might not be too often. | |
Casiotone MT-240 |
|
The Casiotone MT-240 is an old '80s mid-key home synthesizer. What's kept it viable after more than 15 years, is the MIDI interface. Originally I just hooked this into my PC as a master keyboard, but now I slave it beneath my Roland XV-88 (which is now hooked to the PC). The MT-240 natively plays 19 sounds and percussion; however, using external MIDI, it will play 29 sounds (there's an oboe hidden in there!). That's right 10 sounds are only accessible through MIDI. One tradeoff is the layering. Playing the MT-240, you can layer two sounds over each other, giving the lauded 210 sound tone bank feature. However, MIDI cannot access this layering. One more remarkable point about this little keyboard is its single track on board sequencer. It will record 1250 events, including notes and program changes. A respectable number of positive aspects for a 'toy' keyboard. I have scoured the web for any MIDI or specification information about the MT-240, and have found very little. This motivated me to dig up my original owners manual and its MIDI chart. So I have posted the MIDI Implementation Chart, and will also convert the user manual to PDF very soon, giving patch listings, polyphony and all else. |

Roland XV-88 Expandable Synthesizer |
|
The XV-88 is a different beast entirely. This is Roland's premier performance synthesizer. Quite an upgrade from my MT-240. The XV-88 is my master keyboard. I frequently drive it with a sequencer such as Cakewalk Sonar or Pro Audio 9. But its 88 fully weighted hammer-action keys are perfect for playing the traditional way, as well. |

Fender M-80 Chorus Guitar AmpThis amplifier is no longer on the Fender site, but its specifications are similar to the Ultimate Chorus. Overall, it gets excellent reviews by the musicians who use it. |

Sunn 8520 Powered MixerThis mixer also is no longer on the site; I'll admit its time to upgrade to a stereo mixer. But it certainly says something for the quality of these units to survive fully functional after all these years! |
