Saundi Vivian: Artist Statement In the past I made art that asked a lot of questions. Now I feel I have evolved to making art that is more of an answer by its nature. I have arrived at a place of mid points in my life I call middle ground. It means that I value beauty, ecology and simplicity over other artistic concerns. It is also a place where inspiring other people through my art matters more to me than before. As well as painting and computer art I make certified organic knitting, weaving and garments to meet my commitment to a gentler way of living. I call the style of my painting Graphic Nature. It is an interpretation born of attachment and memories. I begin each painting by gathering illustrative and photographic images as well as carefully looking at the expression of live subjects. Then I focus on the graphic qualities and colour patterns I find. I think that Graphic Nature paintings can enliven corporate or personal walls reminding people to enjoy the little things. |
