Alien Resurrection

Fox

Well, to start off, I am going to stop summarizing each film's plot in my reviews and get down to the basics: what I did or didn't like about each film. Why? Because most of you know what these movies are about anyway, and if you don't you can find that info on my theater page.

Alien Resurrection is a slight disappointment. I would say it is better than part three, but not as good as one and two. The storyline is decent and most of the dialogue is great (especially the lines by Sigourney Weaver and Ron Perlman). Winona Ryder didn't quite fit in here, though. My main problem with the film was with many missed opportunites. Without giving away too much I'll just say that in this film Ripley has several new abilities, most of which are surprisingly not used in the battles with the aliens. And I was very disappointed with the last twenty minutes of the film. The film basically loses all its suspense and action, making the ending rather anticlimactic. This film is still fairly good, despite its flaws. There is an underwater sequence that is excellent. And the scenes where the queen is being 'trained' and the aliens' eventual escape are clever. Overall not bad, just don't expect it to reach the highs of Alien or Aliens.
