I am, and always have been, a big fan of movies. There is something to be said for taking a break from the hassles and deadlines of the real world and immersing yourself in a good movie (a book will do nicely as well). Movies are relatively cheap, with a VCR and library card you can see just about everything that interests you. Of course, movies are made for the big screen (some even depend on it), and watching a movie in your living room is far different than watching it on a 20 foot screen with a crowd of people. Unfortunately, the price of a ticket is steadily rising, and in most cases is around $9 per adult (us students can get by for $5, or for free if shifty enough and not entertaining thoughts of the priesthood). Most big cities have revival theaters that play older movies on a big screen, and often the prices are far lower than a cineplex would charge. Here in Columbus, the Ohio Theater dusts off the movie screen every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday nights during the summer. This past summer they even managed to include some Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, and Billy Wilder films. If you're fortunate enough to live near a revival theater, use it, it's probably the only chance to see the classics on a big screen. Also, for you Columbus denizens, the Lennox can't hold a candle to the Drexel.
