Sunday, March 29, 1998 - Man Of Leisure

Followed up on most of last week's action items. Negative conforming is proceeding on schedule. Played phone tag with Alpha Cine. I need to follow up with that on Monday, and the titles contact as well.

The film festival deadlines areN't for a bit, but I should send them out now since I have all of the materials. Why wait until the last minutes? I'd like to have a small private showing of the film at Outpost in the next few weeks. They're completely cool with this. I just need to come up with a reasonable list of people, since the room isn't that big. I'm thinking 15 max.

At some point I need to think about the notion of a premiere. This is actually a very exciting prospect. We have San Jose, San Francisco, Berkeely. Then there are remote sites as well (NYC?) I need to come up with a game plan to determine what path to take.

Thoughts of SOS are overriding thoughts of Into The Green. I've been doing a goodly amount of writing on this. Soon I can present it in screenplay form. It's pretty wild, kind of From Out Of The Blue's alter ego. I treasure the the whole notion of a non-narrative narrative that fully explores all of those hidden spaces that the film uncovered: Mary and Michael in the car, at the ocean, in New Mexico. Load it with the volatile notion that no one knows what's going to happen, ambiguity as to whether the characters are good or bad, awake or dreaming. Right there you have a film that's never been seen before.
