Just the second day of filming and everyone's tired. Makes sense: pre-production segued to production without any break. Most of the crew wasn't involved with pre-production, though.
We decided to go ahead and reshoot parts of scene 29. Marsha has this friend that lives in Pacifica who was nice enough to let us use his backyard for the scene. He had this huge swing that everyone seemed to gravitate to immediately. Wish we could have shot the whole film in there. Once again the weather is beautiful.
Down at the beach the shooting went well. A little on the windy side, though. We set up facing South to shelter a little from the wind. Jeff did a nice job of lighting, though the background is a little funky. I'm sure it will work, though.
The strangest thing about filming scene 34 was the fact that I was too far away to hear any of the dialogue. I needed to rely on Heather and the sound guys to tell me if a take was good or not. Probably should have had Stephanie or Dave run the camera so I could sit in close.
Sam and Katy are beginning to build a rapport. Katy is always radiant on camera. Sam needs a little more coaxing. I think he is still a little uncomfortable with his role. He comes across well in the frame, though. Can't wait to get back the first rushes.
My daily routine so far has been to get up at 5, pack the van, get to the location for a full day of filming. We've been off by 6 or so in time for me to go home, unpack the van, go off for a bite, come home and block out the next day's shoot on the phone with Dave. I usually crawl in to bed at midnight or one. Not sure if I can keep up that pace for two more weeks, but so far it seems to be working. Can't seem to eat much, though.
