Wednesday, June 18, 1997 - Oh What Struggles...

The day started out iffy, then good, then iffy, then good, then finally disaster. Got to the location and was struck with how ludicrous it was to try to shoot a scene that was supposed to be New Mexico in downtown San Francisco. Foggy as all get out. You could taste it. And noisy. So we started inside, for the girl's sleeping scene (65) and waited out the fog. By 11 or so the sky cleared and it was actually a very nice day. So we put the girls in their bathing suits to shoot scene 53. That worked out okay as did Julie's pool scene (59), although I was sweating bullets on that one. 5 minute take: Who wrote this thing? The sound will definitely have to be tweaked. (They probably don't have Muni in downtown Santa Fe.)

I was sweating bullets because the camera has taken to acting up occasionally. No time to get it serviced now. Should have thought about that before.

Dave, Heather, Sam and Katy know that they're going to New Mexico.

We barely got off scene 46, though with the sound, wind, set dressing and shifting sun it took us forever. Katy looking so pretty in her sun dress, waiting to shoot scene 67. We finally finished up scene 46 and got to the guitarist of scene 67. But with Katy and Sam the camera just didn't want to cooperate. Katy in tears: She actually thought I was going to cut the scene if we didn't get it off today. Don't think she realizes I'd sooner cut my own throat than cut this scene.

Sick camera, running out of time. Tickets to the Southwest. What am I going to do?
