July 27, 1997 - That's A Wrap

Today was long (14 hours), but it happened. It really didn't seem that long. The crew was small yet efficient and kept to schedule. My eternal thanks to all involved. I'm dying to get it processed, transferred and synced.

No matter how much time one films in a day, by the evening the previous morning seems days away. I couldn't be happier with Julie's performance today. I only hope the footage does her justice. I think it really works well to work with one actor exclusively for a day. It really helps the actor (and the director) to get into the character and flow of the film. That certainly was at work today. Of course it's easier when you're shooting connections of scenes that have previously been shot and viewed. I broke a cardinal rule and let Julie watch the rushes at length. It didn't hurt her acting a bit, actually enhanced certain scenes. So much for cardinal rules.

Even though I still have a few shots of Michael's character to pick up and some odds and ends of the B roll variety, tonight felt like a final wrap. This weekend I shot the final scenes of Julie and Katy. I miss them already.

Dropped of roll 31 to Monaco after dropping off Stephanie. I'll be eager to see the transfer. Maybe I can pick it up tomorrow after work.

Tomorrow I have to take back the lights, return the car and get to work at a semi-reasonable time and at least pretend to be semi-sane.

We'll have to see the rushes of my acting debut before I care to make too much comment.

My place is a true mess.
