August 09, 1997 - B Roll Winding Down

Pretty smooth day. We went up to Lawrence Hall of Science to shoot 42M of the Doppler Shift collage. I found some Animal Bubbles at Long's Drugs that worked great for this. It's kind of a throwback to those stupid films we saw in Physics class in high school which demonstrated various aspects of Newtonian mechanics. I shouldn't call them stupid, I guess, since I was always fascinated by them. Lawrence Hall had a few curious onlookers but no heat to sweat us. It worked out really well, actually.

Went to Looking Glass for some camera bags, etc. but decided against the expense. It would be more than crazy to spend money on that now.

After 42M we went over to Pacifica for 33F (Carol's Car Passes), 42A (Michael's Car Passing) and some wild track. So much work for a few seconds of footage. It's crucial, though. Glad I can get it shot without having to have the actors hanging around freezing.

Got some more footage of the Ocean on the way back. Almost died for that one, though. I have no choice but to use it in the finished product now.

Came back to Berkeley and shot 42H, more of the Doppler shift collage. Then the sun went away. I'd like to get another take of that. We can do it tomorrow in 15 minutes.

After dinner walked down to UC Theater to see about arranging a fake marquis for scene 18I. The manager was very nice. I'll need to talk to the head manager about it. Looks like I might be able to shoot it Monday evening since they're changing the marquis then anyway. I'll need to bracket it, since I have no clue as to what the exposure should be. My guess is WFO, though.

Tomorrow we have 6A (Loudspeaker), a reshoot of 42H and the studio Doppler shift stuff (42K-M). I need to pack it up pack it in and get if off to Seattle early Monday so I can get it back by Thursday. I need to see it before next weekend's final shoot.

What will I do with myself when I've completed this film?
