Last week's film is in. Too bad the marquis isn't on it, but I'm dying to see what we've got. It's got Katy at the beach (credits), Mary and Carol at the Hotel, and all of the other Carol stuff. And it's all sitting in this cryptic FedEx box, staring me in the face.
Speaking of credits, I have to start thinking about how I'm going to shoot those. Offhand I think the best way is to shoot them on high contrast film, after I've seen the credit backdrop, so I'll know how to position them. Then the lab can do a double exposure and superimpose them. Time to start designing them.
Okay, today I need to call the batting cage. If it falls through, I have to decide whether or not I want to reshoot the whole scene somewhere else. Probably not. The main action in the scene involves Mary swinging, and and although Katy is far more talented than a girl her age has any business being, she does not know how to swing a bat.
Batting cage may prove to be a problem. They don't want us to shoot anywhere near their operating hours, meaning I'll have to pay some guy to come in to open up for us so that we can get that one shot. It cost $75 last time, which seemed like a deal at the time, but now that I'm in austerity mode it seems like a lot.
I'll need to sit down Saturday morning and revisit what we have and the script. It's unacceptable not to finish with the actors this weekend. I'll have both Katy and Sam there, and sufficient crew. What more could a director ask for?
