Tanya at Orpheum in Boston, MA December 2, 1997
Doug reports: Hi all,
I just got back from the Cure/Tanya show at the Orpheum. The show, as many of you bostonians know, was sold out, but there were a slew of scalpers outside selling. From memory, Tanya played:
acrobat
No encore, since she was the second of three acts.
The order is probably wrong, and there's likely an omission or two as well. All I can say is that: a) Landspeed Song is all that, it's great... except try getting up and dancing to it in front of a bunch of black-cladden, make-up wearin' cure fans. I guess we'll have to wait for the 12" remix
To be honest, Tanya didn't seem to excited to about being there--she didn't talk to us much, although Laura pointed out that she did the infamous Tanya stomp, but I heard lots of good things from the audience--about 1/2 of them showed up for her whole set.
By the way, was that someone on the list who shouted the request for "Honeychain?"
In need of sleep (then again, does anyone ever complain that they get too much sleep?),

Grover adds:
pretty deep was right after bright light, that i'm sure of. the rest of it sounds right to me. i was so psyched to be there. she played all of the song of lovesongs that i wanted and hearing low red moon was great. it isn't my favorite belly track, but it fit.
i had one of the the speakers block a big chunk of the stage but i can still see the lead singer seats. not bad all in all. it was exactly what i expected and wanted to see in terms of post-belly tanya. she sounded good, and was a great opening act for the cure. i'm not saying that she should be relgated to opening act status at all!!!!!! it just fit last night.
the cure played the one song i required of them. just like heaven is my favorite all-time by anyone song. can't get enough of that. they were loud, i mean really loud. i never would have thought, listening to them for a decade, that any of their material could be that loud.
i'm glad the people in front with the obnoxious signs (morrisey sucks ass and please play the kiss) didn't get what they want. no offense, but i scream my lungs out trying to get people to play songs. most of the time i realize that if it's not on the set list, it won't get played. such is life. i kept glancing at the signs as they were waved for basically the whole set. quite distracting. not eh end of the world, and i really don't care all that night.
great show all in all.
