I Lost You in My Metaphor

I lost you in my metaphor
Of life, of death, of love.
I lost you in my metaphor
Of starlit skies above.

A time when golden rules
And feelings flickered by.
A time when all I did
Was sit there asking why ?

You broke through my illusions,
Images of Desire,
A longing to be held and cherished,
Filling my veins with fire.

I lost you in my metaphor
In seeking who you are.
I lost you in my metaphor
Of reaching for the stars.

For in striving I found fear
That it was not to be.
That all you are in my soul
Could never be set free.

And so before you could leave me,
I stammered, ran away.
Afraid to let you know the truth,
Afraid to let you stay.

I lost you in my metaphor,
In the walls of my soul.
I lost you in my metaphor,
The battle took its toll.

Yet miraculously you stayed.
We spoke , unveiled the fear.
In your gentleness , reborn,
You kissed away my tears.

And so though we struggled,
There was nothing to lose.
For in revelation , a new depth found,
To stay with you I choose.

I lost you in my metaphor ,
The poetry of charms.
I lost you in my metaphor,
But found you in my arms.
