ACLU AWARDS

Had the chance to attend the ACLU Dinner honoring Ellen....It was great.....I was at a table with the editor and owner of the Lesbian News, a reporter from the LA spanish newspaper, a gay/lesbian entertainment mag, my friend the mag publisher and a woman from an Australian lesbian mag.....Anne wasn't there....guess she's had to modify her request for time off if she ever wants to finish the movie in New York.....they served a boneless chicken breast, broccolli, carrots, whipped potato in a pastry shell, cream of mushroom soup and fresh berries over chocolate mouse/pudding for deseert......Ellen came with her mom....she seemed a little more comfortable during her speech then she was at the HRC dinner...the only time her voice started to break was when she was saying how she couldn't have made it through this past year if it weren't for Anne....that Anne had given her more love and joy then she'd ever gotten at any other time in her life...and "excuse me Tony Danza for being affectionate in public".....she also said what a great mom Betty was...and how Betty's tolarance of pain made her what she is today (she weighed 10 pounds at birth)......got to talk to Betty a little....she's such a mom!.....my friend the magazine publisher approached Ellen...and Ellen seemed a little distant...so I stuck to talking to Betty....it was funny....the friend who invited me is the Media Director for the ACLU.....she also invited my mag publisher friend....when Ellen first arrived they took her over to a roped off area where the still photographers could take pictures of her and the other honorees....I was about 10 feet away from the roped area with my mag buddy when my ACLU buddy called my mag friend over to the roped off area to take pictures....my mag buddy is getting double prints of all she took and is giving me a copy.....didn't want to look geeky hauling a camera around... Sorry if this is a little scattered....still trying to get over the cheap house wine at dinner..
