I love this Band,7 year bitch Rocked on this night at the Whiskey, here
in Hollywood.Im speechless, they blew me away.I thought i was just
going to go see another girl band.I've seen the Babes in
Toyland,L7,the Muffs,Red Aunts,Butt Trumpett,and none of these bands
even came close to the performance of 7 Year Bitch.Selene is the most
awesome girl in Rock right now, she's the queen of the mountain.A fight
broke out during the third song M.I.A. but after that they just rocked
the house down.the next day i went and bought all their CD's.Im
speechless. All's i have to say is 7 Year Bitch Fuckin Rocks!!!!.
A review by Bob Cantu that appeared in San Francisco's music paper Bam:
The most true to life scene in last year's Drew Barrymore/Chris O'Donnell bomb Mad Love was the scene in which their characters check out a 7 Year Bitch gig at a Seattle nightclub. The image of Barrymore's rebellious grrrl character drawing inspiration from Bitch singer Selene Vigil's empowered stance is right on the money. Likewise, swarms of rebellious young thangs, complete with tattoos and navel piercing, were in attendance at 7 Year Bitch's recent headlining show at the Whisky a Go Go. And if you looked down from the Whisky's balcony, a veritable sea of fuzzy teddy-bear backpack purses could be seen bopping up and down in front of the stage.
The band opened with a song from their first C/Z record, Lorna, before kicking into material from their slick Atlantic Records CD, Gato Negro. They may have polished their act a bit in the transition from indie label band to major label artists, but their message of celebrating the wonders of female power hasn't changed one iota. And 7 Year Bitch's audience even responded well to opening band Popdefect, who warmed up the audience with a danceable assortment of apolitical surf and rock tunes. The mysterious Frenchman who joined Popdefect onstage to play saxophone on their cover of "I Am a Poseur" was a Silverlake local named Jean Habermann who drummer Nick Scott explained was "just some guy their bass player met at Millie's Diner." Their rousing rendition of the X-Ray Specs song even managed to coax L7 guitarist Donita Sparks to the front of the stage to rock out.
