Twas the Night Before Tapings

by Lori

Twas the night before tapings,
and through Bungalow halls
All the Whosers were singing--and bouncing off walls;
Their cameras were placed in their purses with care,
In hopes that their favourites would all be there.
With great glee and joy Whosers sprang from their beds,
While visions of Studmuffins danced in their heads;

And some wearing dresses, others in caps,
Ran outside to the driveway to wait for their cabs.
While nestled inside there arose such strange chatter,
The driver turned round to see what was the matter.
Away to the studio Whosers sped in a flash,
And flung themselves "up against the wall!" with a crash.

The mid-day sun shone with a fierce burning glow,
Baking the poor little Whosers below.
They needn't have worried, help was on its' way quick,
There was Fabian himself--the Page on a Stick!

Inside was a host so quick and alive,
The Whosers rejoiced 'cause this taping had Clive!
To the call of this ringleader's intros they came,
He mocked them and teased them and called them by name:
"Now COLIN, now RYAN, now WAYNE and now BRAD!
On players, right now--there's mirth to be had!
Finish your speech, Dan, it's gone on too long,
They've heard your old jokes, every one of them, all!"

The theme music began, filling the studio,
Whosers bounced in their seats and rocked to and fro.
The games were played out with a generous range--
"Helping Hands", "Dead Bodies", and even "Quick Change".
Now and then, here and there, more often than not,
Whosers screamed from their seats and swooned quite a lot.
Keen-eyed, they let no obscure reference go by,
Leading Colin to stare at them, gesturing, "Why?"

As the sun went down the pickups went right along,
Causing Clive to spit water at Dan Patterson,
And when they were over the Whosers engaged
In a plot to get themselves backstage.
It didn't look good--the pages were cross,
And the Whosers feared that all was lost.

Then out of the gloom strode a figure so tall,
Twas Colin Mochrie, there to say "hi!" to all!
His eyes--how they twinkled, his dimples how merry!
He laughed when the Whosers asked about "Phil" and "Gary".
His smile was patient, and truly amused,
He said, "Come along, I'll introduce you!"

The Whosers, of course, were as happy as elves,
And Ryan laughed at them, in spite of himself.
But a wink of Fabian's eye and a shake of his head
Led the Whosers to know they had nothing to dread.
For t'was late but the merriment lasted some time,
With photos and hugs for all in the line.

Alas the players finally had to go,
But the Whosers knew all would be at the next show.
The guys sprang to their cars, Whosers waved as they went,
From jet lag and excitement, all were quite spent.
Still they yelled till the last car was out of sight:
"Thank you, Studmuffins, for making our night!"
