I thought it was a situation comedy that depicted black people, some black people, in an element, and it was comedy. There were laughs there. that's what it's all about get some laughs and you're not hurting anyone. Look at your mother and father around the house and you'll see the same things happening. I used to stand backstage next to a chair, Tim Moore's wife would sit backstage at the Apollo, and all the places, when we used to play the chittlin circuit, and I would stand backstage with her while he was on stage, so more or less I learned most of my professionalism from watching him perform. Whatever he was doing he was doing it for that era, and it made it possible for me to do something, so that after me some other youngster could do something and after them they could do something. I thought it was a funny show, and a funny dude, the whole cast.".
