Today several officials of the Scandinavian Space
Administration reported a breakthrough
in the research of nanotech programming in a
Micro-G environment. They were able to program a
workteam of nanites to construct a a 3 inch
cube of pure titanium out of materia taken from
a recycle bin.

If this experiment holds true, professor Bergman
says, it means the end of the garbage disposal
problems on the "Lion of the North" spacestation.

General Johansen said that there are a number of
other uses for this technology, some in military
applications.

Further experiments is taking place on the space
station and on the Lunarviking base on the moon.

Further tests on the new Mainframe LiTH BE-12 has
been cancelled because of the massive cooling
problems. The unit will be spacelifted later this
month, to be placed at the Science Module for tests
in Vacuum. Dr Lena Nordin believes that the cooling
problems will vanish completely, and the CPU can
reach the projected speeds without damaging the
circuitry.

The Scandinavian Lions, the National Icehockey team,
played a match against the Russian Bears yesterday.
Coach Orvar Ledin was pleased to see his team defeat
the Russians with four goals to three. The game is
part of the preparation for the World Hockey
Championship that will take place in Moscow in November.
This result means that the Lions will meet the German
National Team in the Finale.

Goal scorers were in order:
0-1 Sergej Kraputkin, 0-2, Anatolij Romachenko, 1-2
Mattias Rydberg, 1-3 Igor Konovalenko, 2-3 Yrki Eloranta,
3-3 Janne Touma, 4-3, Peter Taxén.

The match showed a lot of action, with the Russians starting
out as the strongest team, and several Scandinavian penalties
made it possible for the Russians to take the lead, and hold
on to it for two periods. In the third, the Scandinavian first
line pulled themselves together, and made a heroic effort to
bring the Lions to the lead. The final minutes were hectic,
as the Russians pulled out their goalie to bring in another
forward, and drummed up a tremendous pressure on Mika Olio,
The Scandinavian keeper, but no more goals were made. The
Finale will be played tomorrow in Helsinki. Match for third
place will be played earlier tomorrow, between Russia and the
Chech Republic.
